Dorota Banytka

Certified English/Polish legal translator admitted by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Poland.

EDUCATION

In 1989 I graduated from the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Warsaw University, and obtained Master of Arts diploma having defended a thesis on translation of creative metaphor. This is how my fascination with creativity in language first manifested itself and has ever since inspired my translation efforts.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Since 2009 I have been a certified (official) translator of English admitted by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Poland.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

For 16 years I was an in-house translator of English at Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak Legal Advisors L.P. – a leading law firm in Poland which provides the highest standard of legal services in all facets of business activity – and translated documents in all the fields of SKS’s practice.

I also worked for two of the “Big Four” companies: I was a translator at the tax and audit departments at the Warsaw office of KPMG for 2.5 years and prior to that, also for 2.5 years, I was head of a translation team at Coopers & Lybrand (currently PwC). The team was formed by me and the job was a combination of translation itself and of day-to-day supervision of translation projects, staff recruitment, teamwork with external translation providers for larger projects and terminology  buildup.

Furthermore, I have experience in collaboration with international financial institutions such as the World Bank or International Monetary Fund.
